Multi-Factor  Authentication

In a world where everything is becoming more digital, and there are many online security risks, MFA is like a strong armor to protect your personal and business information. We will help you understand why you should use MFA, how it works, and the many advantages it offers, not just for Red Bull employees. Whether you're new to this concept or want to learn more, we're here to make MFA easy to understand and show you why it's so important for keeping your digital life safe.

What is multi-factor authentication?

Red Bull places great emphasis on the security of your user identity by using multi-factor authentication (MFA). This means confirming your identity with two essential authentication methods:

  • Something You Know: This includes your password.
  • Something You Have: This can be your Red Bull device or the Microsoft Authenticator app.

Whenever you try to access a Red Bull IT service from a personal or non-company device, you must use the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device to authorize the login.

Why do I need the Microsoft Authenticator app?

You must have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your mobile device to access Red Bull IT services from personal devices not associated with the company. Registering for the Microsoft Authenticator app is crucial for several key reasons:

  • Readiness: By having the Microsoft Authenticator app, you'll be well-prepared to access Red Bull IT services from non-company devices when the need arises.
  • Enhanced Security: Your account gains an additional layer of protection against cybercriminals once you activate the Microsoft Authenticator app. Even if a cybercriminal attempts to guess or phish (steal) your password, they won't be able to infiltrate your Red Bull IT services.
  • Login Detection: With the Microsoft Authenticator app activated, you can easily detect any unauthorized attempts to log in using your password. This adds an extra level of security to your account.

After registering for MFA, I have to re-login to different Red Bull / Microsoft 365 services. Why?

A re-login is only required if you have authenticated to Microsoft 365 in the past using a password (1-factor) instead of "Login with company device". Password login is only required on non-company devices or during MFA registration.

Does registering a device mean that I agree to give Red Bull or Microsoft access to my device?

Registering a device gives your device access to Red Bull services and does not allow Red Bull access to your device. More information can be found here.
